Troops and Units

TROOP TYPES
Troops are depicted down to the individual regiment and battery level with the smallest unit being the brigade. These can be grouped into various organizations such as divisions, corps and armies, handled by a realistic yet easy to understand command chain rule. There are more than 250 different units included within the game. All are rated for various aspects such as offensive and defensive strength, morale, experience, cohesion, troop quality, geographical origin and movement type.

UNIT ORGANIZATION AND COMMAND CHAIN
AACW places great importance on the organization of forces and the chain of command to ensure smooth communication, accurate execution of orders and cohesiveness of forces.

Units can be organized into armies, corps, divisions and brigades. This will depend on the nation's military structure, as well as the presence (or absence) of a leader of appropriate rank. Armies receive combat and marching bonuses, and inherit some of the abilities of the most senior commander (hence the importance of having a competent general at the head of key armies).

A player's forces are organized into the following hierarchy:

Units are deemed "in the Command Chain" if they belong to a Corps which is, in turn, attached to an Army. Any units which don't belong to such a Corps are considered independent for Command Chain purposes, and they have additional penalties from being out of the Command Chain (-50% to the Command Points generated by the leaders in the Force).
